I’ve never been drawn to design that floats above the world. The work that clicks has dirt under its nails. At Bates College, leading a campus-wide brand and experience overhaul meant listening hard, seeing real constraints, and building something people could actually use across a messy, living institution. Place-based work with the I-20 Wildlife Preserve (now Watersong Wild Space) reinforced the same truth: reality is the client.

  • On-the-ground clarity: real audiences, public-facing usability
